Product Introduction

Polarization measurement techniques are essential in terahertz (THz) radiation analysis, enabling characterization of properties such as birefringence, spatial/frequency modes, and profiles. The core component is a polarization analyzer capable of identifying and measuring polarization states.

The THz waveguide developed by Tydex is fabricated from birefringent materials and primarily serves to alter the polarization state of THz radiation. Its operating principle involves adjusting the phase difference between the vertical and horizontal polarization components of the incident light to achieve polarization state conversion.

These wave plates are primarily classified into two types: λ/2 wave plates (half-wave plates) and λ/4 wave plates (quarter-wave terahertz wave plates). A λ/2 terahertz wave plate provides a phase delay of π, altering the polarization direction of incident linearly polarized light; a λ/4 wave plate offers a phase delay of π/2, converting incident linearly polarized light into circularly or elliptically polarized light. When the polarization direction of the incident light aligns with the axis of the wave plate, the terahertz wave plate does not modify its polarization state.
