Product Introduction  

THz monochromatic waveplates are generally used to convert the polarization state at a specific wavelength. Since these waveplates only work for a single wavelength, they are inconvenient for certain applications, such as tunable thz sources. Under such circumstances, the tunable thz waveplate (TWPC) serves as a sensible alternative. 

The tunable thz waveplate newly released by Tera realizes phase conversion for any single wavelength across a spectral range. The supporting software computes conversion parameters and operating ranges.This tunable thz waveplate is composed of three transparent birefringent quartz plates. Each plate is mounted on a rotary stage for 360° rotation. The three rotary stages are precisely aligned and secured to a shared baseplate. These plates can be rotated to designated angles to deliver the required phase retardation for different polarization states at a target wavelength.Rotation angles are calculated by the software. In addition to plate‑rotation angles, the software also computes phase retardation values, effective optical axes, and the correlations between polarization angles and corresponding wavelengths.

Test data for different operating modes of the tunable thz waveplate (TWPC) were all acquired using the Bruker Vertex 70 Fourier‑transform spectrometer.
